"The New Porsche Expert"
Blake MontezIt’s a Family Business
“I wanted to move up to auto technician fast.”
Green Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nevada gave us Blake Montez, another hometown hero who has made it, and makes Las Vegas proud. The youngest of the 3 technicians at The 900 Series, Blake specializes in the newer water-cooled and highly computerized Porsches. “When I was twenty years old I had a job as a shop porter. I wanted to move up to auto technician fast. I was all about the cars.”
Never a Dull Moment
Morning coffee with the team starts each day. Cricket and Thunder supervise repairs, customers pop in, new and old, Tony fabricates something for one of the customer repair orders or his own tribute projects, and “I am lucky enough to see my dad every day.” Ramon Montez Sr, the general manager is Blake’s father. Of course there is Thunder’s internal alarm. It tells Thunder who tells the rest of us the food truck is here. The only thing that might be more entertaining is Cricket tackling Tony to beg for a dish full of milk. That’s all before 10am, before we can really dive into the repair challenges for the day.

“I wanted to focus on one type of sports car, Porsche.”
Working as an auto technician requires constant learning and adapting. “After working on all kinds of cars, then mostly Mercedes, BMW and Porsche, I wanted to focus on one type of sports car, Porsche.” Do you have to replace an air conditioning condenser or is it just a heat valve failure heating up the air? Does it really take several hours to replace an air filter, if it is mounted in the front bumper it just might. Blake learns about air-cooled Porsche repairs from Gary and Brant. He gives them his short cuts and techniques to do the best water-cooled repairs on the newer Porsches. You won’t find a better team of Porsche technicians anywhere in Las Vegas than at Carl’s Place. You definitely won’t find a better team of Porsche techs on TV than the team on The 900 Series.
