"Master Mechanic"
Gary StantonLocal Boy Makes Good
My Dad was a mechanic. We built dune buggies together.”
Las Vegas in the middle of the desert in Southern Nevada gave us casinos, blue people banging music, amazing acrobatic circus shows, and the last days of Elvis. It also gave us Gary Stanton, wunderkind Porsche master mechanic. “Since I was 10. My Dad was a mechanic. I would watch him work on his truck or dune buggy. We built dune buggies together.”
It All Started When
An apprentice mechanic might start out with an oil change, simple tune up, something easy to do and to build his confidence. Gary’s first repair on a Porsche was rebuilding a 356 engine that another mechanic tore down. More than twenty years later, Gary is rebuilding transmissions, engines, and yes even doing the tune ups which are never simple on any Porsche of any model or year.
It’s Great
“Great people to work with, joke and have a good time working.”
The secret to never working a day in your life is finding something you love to do. Gary Stanton has found that at Carl’s Place repairing Porsches. “I love coming to work. It’s great. Great people to work with, joke an have a good time working.” With his love for camping, the outdoors and California beaches, it’s no surprise Gary is in search of a diesel Cayenne to compliment the buggies, VWs and trucks he already owns.
Las Vegas Thunder
Like Brant, Gary has a deep love for animals, especially his dog Thunder. At the shop every day, Thunder has a food truck habit that makes the whole team laugh. Super smart and gentle, Thunder is a giant poodle quick to hide his face from you because he is bashful. At home Gary and his wife care for all of their animals, and give them plenty of space to roam. But even on a Saturday, when the rest of the world is looking to escape work, you are more likely to find Gary at the shop working on a car, because that is what he loves.
